Parks and Recreation Opportunities

Park Volunteer 2Renton’s Park and Recreation Programs offer a large variety of volunteer opportunities for you or your organization to be involved in. These range from one time events to ongoing year-round or seasonal programs. Our volunteers have the opportunity to make a difference in our community while meeting new people and becoming familiar with programs and a park system that renew and refresh all who participate. You can help by joining volunteer groups that spread bark, pick up litter, pull weeds, and plant flowers. Volunteers assist with youth athletic events, special events, cultural arts programs and more.

If you or a group you belong to are interested in being part of the action, we invite you to explore the variety of opportunities available by contacting the volunteer coordinators with the following programs. Coordinators will be able to answer any specific questions you may have about their program, and can send you a volunteer packet to get you started:

Cedar River Trail WalkerVOLUNTEER TRAIL & PARK RANGER PROGRAM

Do you like meeting new people, being outdoors, and sharing your enthusiasm for your local parks and trails?  Then this program may be just for you. The City of Renton is looking for individuals to serve as Volunteer Trail and Park Rangers. This team of volunteers will patrol, by walking or in a provided vehicle, the beautiful Cedar River Trail, Liberty and Gene Coulon Beach Parks. Tasks include, educating park visitors and trail users on rules and regulations, enhancing safety awareness, providing information and directions, watching for vandalism, and acting as "Good Will Ambassadors" for the City. You must be 21 years of age, attend training, and be willing to dedicate a minimum of one shift, of four hours per week.
